Strawn lauded for volunteer work

To the Editor:

Our family has had the pleasure of getting to know Bob Strawn through the Rotary Club of Manhattan student exchange program. Through his efforts, a Manhattan student was able to participate in the program and is currently in Italy. Currently, we have had the joy of having a young lady from Ecuador living with us and attending Manhattan High. The conversations in our kitchen would certainly reflect a positive diplomatic development for our countries.

Since 9/11, the Rotary program was dormant. Parents weren't willing to participate and send their children into the unknown. Bob worked diligently to coordinate and resurrect it. I've been impressed by his dedication and resolve to stay in contact with both of the students to make sure that their needs are taken care of and that they have a positive experience.

His business leadership skills have served us well as he's communicated with all involved participants from sponsor households and students, to local, regional and state coordinators of the program. Bob knows how to use his talents and passions while balancing the concerns of many.

We as a city deserve to have a person with such dedication, positive focus and leadership as Bob Strawn. Let's put him on the City Commission.
