Strawn will continue impressive legacy of Republican representation

To the Editor:

Over the years, Manhattan has been fortunate to have many outstanding Republicans as our state legislators. Joe Knopp and Kent Glasscock are good examples of what successes can be accomplished for Manhattan and K-State working with our big Republican majority in Topeka. We can regain this success with the replacement of Democrat Sydney Carlin with Republican Bob Strawn as our new representative for the 66th District.

As a friend and neighbor as well as a fellow Rotarian, I am familiar and impressed with Bob's outstanding professional qualifications to represent our 66th District. He has a proven business record as a successful executive with a Fortune 500 company before moving to Manhattan. Bob and his wife, Julia, have a daughter and son who are K-Staters.

Bob chairs the Manhattan Rotary's Youth Exchange Program and holds a seat on the Chamber of Commerce' Public Affairs Committee. He also serves on Manhattan's Human Right's and Services Board and is a lifetime member of the American Legion.

I would urge you to join my wife, Lea, and me in voting for Bob Strawn on Nov. 7.
