First published in The Manhattan Mercury Strawn can represent all areas of the communityTo the Editor: As the City Commission and school district elections approach us, as usual, we have a broad cross section of candidates who have volunteered to assume the responsibilities of helping to govern our community. For City Commission I strongly urge people to take a look at Bob Strawn. While a relative newcomer to our community Bob has a strong background in business management. But, more importantly, being semi-retired he has an idea of how hard it is on our citizens to see taxes continue to rise. Instead of platitudes, however, Bob proposes solutions for cooperatively streamlining government without cutting services. He does not endorse any kind of new tax such as on income. Bob strongly supports the downtown projects, supports the protection, and stabilization of all our neighborhoods, the continued support of those in our community with special needs and, as an independent, does not owe allegiance to any political action group with special agendas. He can truly represent all areas of our city. Bob has the potential to be an outstanding voice for all of us as a member of our City Commission. Gene Klingler |
